I’ve wanted a lo-fi pedal for a while now, and I just kept finding more interesting circuits to build and since parts are so cheap… I’ve built the lo-fi and rambler distortion pedals, I’m debugging a pulse width modulation pedal, and I have all the parts on my table to put together a new fuzz pedal as soon as I get some more perfboard.

To kind of demo the lo-fi pedal I recorded a quick version of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd – just the intro but it gives you a great  idea of how it sounds verse a clean violin. You can also grab a listen on the left music widget thingy.

Its awesome. And now I can lay down backing tracks to all the stuff I record. Speaking of which, I’m working on a new song for which I’m sure you’re all extremely excited. Here’s a teaser.

But back to the title. I found some Nine Inch Nails stems online and since I’m on a huge NIN kick right now I had to grab the 31 Ghosts IV drum stem and record a quick, dirty, ballsy, brutal, raw, bass  and violin cover. You should check it out cause its awesome.

Also I’m currently learning Icarus by Kansas for the Virtual Kansas Online Band youtube thingy. It’s a tricky song but I really like it so far.
